Part Three : The Duchess and the Devil
After winning a French sloop in a daring raid, Hornblower is asked to escort the alluring
and outrageous Duchess of Wharfedale, and take important dispatches, to England. But
on the voyage home, they are captured by a Spanish ship and taken to prison, governed
by Don Massaredo, where Hornblower has to ensure the dispatches do not fall into the
wrong hands.
